25 Upmarket Hotels Drive Incremental Revenue with the Travelzoo Top 20

Hotels in England, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Scotland, Spain and the USA leverage Travelzoo’s Top 20TM to drive incremental revenue.

(PRWEB) February 6, 2006 -- Travelzoo, the internet media company that publishes travel offers to more than 9 million subscribers, today announced that more than 25 upmarket European hotels*
have achieved significant incremental revenue during traditionally soft occupancy periods by promoting offers in the Top 20TM e-newsletter.

Furthermore, all room nights were booked directly with
the hotels via their own branded web sites and call centres.

  • The Westin Paris, a 5-star hotel, booked over 820 room nights in 7 days when promoting a November re-opening special in the Top 20.

  • The Westbury Hotel in Mayfair, a 4-star hotel in London, reported 192 room nights in a 7-day promotion for late December and early January travel.

  • The Clontarf Castle Hotel, a 4-star hotel in Dublin saw over 150 room nights for quiet periods in December and January.

Chris Loughlin, Managing Director for Travelzoo (Europe) Ltd said:
“We have now run promotions in the Top 20 for more than 25 upmarket hotels from 9 European countries. The success rate is exceptional, demonstrating that savvy hotel managers across Europe can utilise the Travelzoo Top 20 to drive incremental room nights during softer periods and add
significant profit to the bottom line.

The majority of hotel advertisers are 4- and 5-star hotels, this shows that Top 20 subscribers respond well to great values from quality travel companies."

Steven Taylor, Director Ecommerce NW Europe, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, commented: “We have utilised Travelzoo on a number of occasions to promote our luxury hotels in Paris, Madrid and London. We continue to be impressed by the immediacy and volume of response we receive and feel
reassured that advertising with Travelzoo encourages its 9 million strong audience to boost occupancy levels in Europe on our behalf.”

John Kearney, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Westbury Mayfair Hotel said, “Travelzoo has proved to be an excellent channel for us to sell rooms during periods of low occupancy. Within just a few days of the promotion 192 incremental room nights were generated, which was significantly more than we had expected. We intend to use Travelzoo again in the future as a key part of our overall
sales and marketing strategy.”

Olivia Willis, Marketing Director for Clontarf Castle Hotel in Dublin, said: “As an independent hotel it
is more challenging to get big exposure cost effectively.

The Travelzoo Top 20 helps us reach over 325,000 travellers in the U.K. and over 9 million in the U.S.A. at the click of a button. The results speak for themselves, our November promotion yielded over 150 incremental room nights and this week's promotion booked 1,000 euros in the first hour!'

Tracy Kirton, Marketing Manager, Travelsmith Ltd. who operates hotels in Cornwall, England said: "We promoted a Cornwall Break in the Top 20. Within a week we were delighted to have tracked over 100 room nights. The average stay was 4 nights and the promotion proved very successful.

Although the Top 20 is an e-mail newsletter, 90% of our bookings were made by telephone.”

Commenting on the boost in occupancy levels at Madrid’s Westin Palace, Juan Luis Diaz, Director for
Online Distribution at the hotel said: “Travelzoo helped us drive incremental room nights during a traditionally soft period. 82% of the bookings came from exposure to new customers in Travelzoo's US/UK Top 20 publication, and guests booked average stays of 4 nights.”

Over the last 29 quarters, Travelzoo has reported record revenues in every quarter. For more information and to sign up to the Travelzoo Top 20TM e-newsletter log on to
