Dave O'Brien Announces His Intent to Build a Grid of One Million Blogs
Dave O'Brien, who has been called many things such as "stupid and crazy" for many years, has announced his intent to build a grid of one million blogs. He will call this grid "One Million Blogs".
DAVE'S HOUSE (PRWEB) February 5, 2006 -- Dave O'Brien has announced his intent to build a grid of 1 million blogs on his new homepage, located at www.onemillionblogs.net. Bloggers can buy a 30x30 pixel square on the grid for $1.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars will then be put back into the blogsphere, as Dave plans to purchase ad space on participating blogs to spread good word about many of the blogs in his grid.
"I won't ever hide the fact that I've been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage and the idea of making some money. What I thought I could do is put an original spin on a the whole 'million somethings' thing, and in my case I'm trying to inject a bunch of ad dollars and publicity back into my own industry, as well," he explained.
"I figured if we could successfully translate The Office to the US, we could do this, too. Being a blogger myself and knowing there are something like 200 gazillion blogs out there, I thought this was a natural fit."
Dave hasn't revealed where his personal blog is, but did say that he has already bought square #514,655 for himself. How long does he think it will take to build his million blog grid?
"I'd love to have it done by tomorrow, but May will work, too. I've always liked May, because it falls right between April and June."
Dave also noted how funny it is that press releases make it seem like there was a large interview that took place, when really he is just a guy who typed this all himself.
Squares on the grid are for sale as of right now, and Dave is blogging his adventures in square sales on The 1MB Blog, which can be reached via the main site.
Dave O'Brien is not a fancy company and has no fancy statements to make about how fancy he is. He is just a guy who was born in a hospital. Media and other inquiries should be accompanied by a poem or pencil drawing.
