The agreement means that users of Mapcom’s flagship M4 Solutions Geographical Operations System (GOS) Suite will be able to load their existing land base in M4 into a handheld FastGate Mobile device, and use it to collect geographically-correct coordinates for various items of plant and serviceable structures.

Mapcom Systems and Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. (“Osmose”) announced today the signing of a co-marketing agreement designed to bring together the benefits of Mapcom Systems’ GOS-based M4® Solutions with Osmose’s FastGate® Mobile field data collection solution. The agreement enables Mapcom to provide its customers with a complete GPS-based field data collection solution powered by Osmose’s FastGate Mobile software that links seamlessly with the maps and data contained in Mapcom’s M4 software. It also provides ready access to Osmose’s industry-leading survey work force and array of professional utility-based services.

For their respective independent telecommunications customers, the agreement means that users of Mapcom’s flagship M4 Solutions Geographical Operations System (GOS) Suite will be able to load their existing land base in M4 into a handheld FastGate Mobile device, and use it to collect geographically-correct coordinates for various items of plant and serviceable structures. The FastGate Mobile software also integrates a digital camera, enabling users to collect images of the items they collect and store them in the associated data record in M4 for quick reference. Osmose’s team of field collection professionals may also be utilized to collect accurate field data.

“Osmose and Mapcom are complimentary organizations that are recognized leaders in their fields,” said Tom Petrik, Vice President of Technology for Osmose. “When Osmose sought to increase the scope of offerings to our telecommunications clients, it became clear that Mapcom, with their M4 product, was a perfect fit. Coupling the two product lines provides M4 clients with a flexible and cost-affordable data maintenance strategy.”

“This agreement represents the ideal marriage of complementary technologies,” said John Granger, President of Mapcom Systems. “The ability to carry a state-of-the-art handheld device, equipped with advanced data collection software and digital imaging capability – coupled with the capability to migrate data in and out of the M4 Geographical Operations System – will dramatically enhance our mutual customers’ level of accuracy, operational efficiency and company-wide sharing of critical plant data. We have already received enthusiastic response from our customers as they learn of our alliance with Osmose.”
