Valentine's gifts have changed. Paper valentines, candy and roses have become passé. Vinamor and Offbeat Adventure Travel have combined their resources to create an Extreme Valentine’s Day celebration full of adventure, intrigue, and romance. The experience includes the adventure of soaring high above the Napa Valley in a hot air balloon with Peter Mondavi on their way to private tastings at exclusive wineries, the intrigue of dining with world renowned chefs Robert Curry and Pamela Yahn who will prepare special menus designed around a $20,000 assortment of rare and cult wines. The wines include a 1961 Latour rated 100 points by both Wine Spectator and Robert Parker, a 1992 Screaming Eagle, a 1988 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Romanee Conti, and for dessert a 1914 d`Yquem Sauterne. The lucky Valentine’s will then be spirited away in their private jet to experience the romance of their own private villa and spa in the tropical Caribbean paradise of St. Kitts.
Here’s what a $200,000 Valentine Experience looks and feels like.
On Friday, February 10, 2006 a limousine will pick the couple up from their home and escort them to a Cessna Citation III private jet which will carry the couple off to Napa Valley where they will stay for two nights in a private villa at Auberge du Soleil (http://www.aubergedusoleil.com). One of the best-known and best-loved hotels in all of wine country and a Conde Nast Travel & Leisure Award Winner, Auberge du Soleil just celebrated its 20th birthday with a head-to-toe renovation, plus a new spa and sculpture garden. The Mediterranean-style villas are scattered on a 33-acre hillside olive grove.
The villa at Auberge du Soleil features 1800 square feet of living space with the following amenities: Living Room, 2 Fireplaces, Dining Alcove, Den, 2 Full Baths, Steam Shower, Soaking Tub, Plasma Televisions, Terrace Hot Tub, as well as a Built-In Bar .
Before dinner the couple will unwind in the Lover's Fireside Retreat at the Spa du Soleil. They will relax in total privacy next to a cozy fireplace as they gaze over the panoramic view of the Napa Valley below and sip pre-treatment elixirs. They will enjoy two spa treatments each, paired with the sparkling wine of their choice and a sensuous plate of food prepared by the Auberge du Soleil Souse Chef.
The evening’s dinner will be served ensuite, created and prepared to perfectly match a selection of impossible to find California Cult Wine classics by Executive Chef Robert Curry formally of Wine Spectator Greystone Restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, California.
The couple will begin Saturday morning with a Champagne Balloon adventure over the Napa Valley with none other than the grand master of wine himself Peter Mondavi owner of Charles Krug Winery. Charles Krug was the first Napa Valley winery and was founded in 1861. After a private tasting with Peter and his son Marc at Charles Krug the couple will be taken by private car and driver on a 5 hour tour of Napa Valley for private tastings at exclusive wineries of the couple’s choice.
At the end of their romantic day their private chef will create a romantic dinner at Wine Spectator Culinary Institute at Greystone.
On Sunday, February 12, 2005 a private jet will fly the couple to St. Kitts where they will spend the next three days at Ottley’s Plantation Inn, a secluded Caribbean hideaway situated on a 35 acre mango plantation in the foothills of majestic Mt. Liamuiga, with breathtaking views of the Atlantic.
The plantation grounds include a secluded rainforest grotto with private spa where the couple will relax as they are pampered with massage, facials, manicures, pedicures and luxurious, rejuvenating body wraps. The setting is incomparable, the experience a delight for body and soul.
The weekend menu will be created based on the couple’s tastes by renowned Chef de Cuisine Pamela Yahn and will include meals made from the freshest ingredients and rare vintage wines specially flown in from around the world.
Finally at Valentines dinner a private courier will arrive to present the crowing jewel of the experience, a custom made 3 carat Emerald and Diamond necklace with 1 carat matching earrings from Winfield Jewelers (http://www.winkjones.com/), a piece of jewelry that will define the true romance of their extreme weekend getaway. The couple will leisurely jet their way home on February 15th with a life time of memories and a Valentine’s Day they’ll never forget.
