The purpose of this unusual way to celebrate a birthday wasn’t the act of fire walking itself but rather to use the fire-walk as a metaphor for life.

Fear is said to hold us back in many areas of life. The idea of fire walking is that if we can overcome the fear of walking over coals burning at 800 degrees we can overcome any other fear and go on to achieve anything we want.
