PC Remote Control Now More Cost-Effective for Small to Medium-Sized Companies

As phone support loses popularity, NetworkStreaming makes PC remote control more accessible.

(PRWEB) February 7, 2006 -- In response to consumer needs, NetworkStreaming has updated their pricing structure to make ownership of their pc remote control appliance more accessible to small and medium-sized businesses.

Although NetworkStreaming’s total cost of ownership for SupportDesk, the company’s appliance-based PC remote control product, has always been less than that of other solutions, the upfront costs were sometimes difficult for smaller companies with cash flow and capex restrictions. Because this made the product less accessible to these companies, NetworkStreaming added a separate pricing line, offering the product as a managed appliance.

“We wanted something that enabled small to medium-sized businesses to deploy the application securely in their environment at their location without the expense of having to purchase the licenses up front,” said VP of Product Development, Nathan McNeill.

Network Streaming has also restructured their maintenance contracts for those with perpetual licenses, lowering the price for software support, and initiating separate hardware replacement contracts.

Their new structure also offsets the comparative advantage of off-shoring by making it possible to eliminate phone support, which, per recent surveys done by PC Magazine, is losing popularity, due largely to communication difficulties. The success of phone support is also dependant on the computer literacy of the end-user – an unpredictable variable that is eliminated in the PC remote control model where the support rep is able to see the remote computer as if he were sitting in front of it.

SupportDesk is used to support customers, employees, remote and traveling employees and remote offices, offering help desk functions as well as installation, demonstration, and updating of software applications. The product enables any person anywhere to connect to the support team in about 10 seconds, without the prior software installation required of ASP models. Once the connection is made, the pc can be controlled without on-site assistance. At completion of the support session, the small utility downloaded during the connection is automatically removed from the remote computer. Because you host Support Desk, and set the parameters, this is the most secure pc remote control solution available and compliance issues are minimized.
