ITtoolbox, the online community enabling professional IT knowledge sharing, announced today that the ITtoolbox Groups service distributed its 1.5 billionth discussion group e-mail. Launched in February 2000, the ITtoolbox Groups service has grown to include nearly 1 million subscriptions among more than 700 groups. Through these groups, professionals share practical information on technical, project management, strategy and planning, and career topics.

The 1.5 billionth message was sent by members of the SalesLogix-L group. Just like in other groups at ITtoolbox, SalesLogix-L members ask questions, get answers, and share information directly with peers. In this way, individuals tap into the collective knowledge of the group to gather experienced input before making IT decisions.

"Having used ITtoolbox since 2004, it's been a fantastic medium for helping community individuals with their experience of SalesLogix. It's great to be part of an open community that enables information sharing and the ability to pose questions, with a ‘core’ team of specialists always ready to help,” commented Mike Spragg, Technical Director of e1 Business and community leader of the SalesLogix-L discussion group at ITtoolbox. “I'm delighted to assist others and share my experiences, as sharing helps to further people's knowledge and clarify their expectations, leading to a more knowledgeable user base for the future."

Growth of the ITtoolbox Groups service is supported by features that continue to evolve with the needs of the IT community. In addition to sharing knowledge with peers, community members can suggest new groups in emerging areas of information technology, customize their subscription and delivery preferences, and streamline interaction with other group members through integrated community tools like ITtoolbox Wiki.

“As an online community dedicated to the IT market, the most important thing we do is make it easy for professionals to communicate and share knowledge with their peers,” said Dan Morrison, co-founder and CEO. “Facilitating the exchange of more than 1.5 billion e-mails among members illustrates the value professionals place on the knowledge of their peers and underscores the progress we have made in our quest to help them access it.”
