Nero Wolfe award winning author, Robert Goldsborough, wins award for his first novel (Three Strikes You're Dead) since writing the Nero Wolfe books.

Wheaton, Illinois author Robert Goldsborough sat in a room filled with the likes of Judith Guest (Ordinary People), multi-award winning author Barbara D'Amato (Death of a Thousand Cuts), and David Morrell (creator of Rambo and Creepers ). More than one hundred additional mystery, suspense, and thriller writers filled the award banquet room at the 8th annual Love is Murder award banquet. Then the announcement came. "The award goes to Robert Goldsborough for 'Best Historical Mystery.'" The crowd applauded wildly.

This award follows close on the heels of the first academic placement for THREE STRIKES YOU'RE DEAD. The first book in the Steve "Snap" Malek Mystery Series has been selected for inclusion in the "History of Chicago" class curriculum at the Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois; a well respected Jesuit College Preparatory High School.

THREE STRIKES YOU'RE DEAD takes fans back to 1938 Chicago, to a time when politics were king and baseball ruled. Dizzy Dean sat in the driver's seat of the Cubs' World Series ride, while scandal rocked the tight political community of the Windy City.

"…a master storyteller, providing crackling dialogue and plot twists around every corner -- readers are in for a real treat!" –Max Allan Collins, author of ROAD TO PURGATORY

Goldsborough's trademark style of gritty detectives and vivid description are at a definite high in this novel of murder and mayhem. Deftly written dialogue and a unique and colorful cast of characters bring this classic-style mystery to life.

Booklist (6/15/05 100th Anniversary Issue) calls it "…at once sinister and appealing…an engaging subplot… An enormously entertaining caper."

Robert Goldsborough is widely acclaimed for his contribution to the mystery genre as the author who kept the legendary Nero Wolfe alive after the passing of the mystery icon Rex Stout. Mr. Goldsborough is the author of such treasures as THE SILVER SPIRE, MURDER IN E MINOR, and THE MISSING CHAPTER.

Robert Goldsborough recently completed THE SHADOW OF THE BOMB. The second title in the Snap Malek Mystery series is slated for an October 2006 release from the Echelon Press Publishing.
