Otus Computing has expanded their ambitions in business software development through the appointment of Sales Manager, Luke Anderson. Anderson has experience at the highest levels in both the UK and global markets.

The London-based company has a strong base in the insurance industry with clients such as Arthur J. Gallagher and Jardine Lloyd Thompson. Otus also undertake work for the US Air Force and University of Westminster.

Anderson’s task will be to tackle the corporate market in the UK and he will concentrate on two areas:

(i) helping companies get the most from standard packages like Microsoft Access.

(ii) developing bespoke business software packages to address specific business issues.

According to Anderson, “the big name software packages are designed to do the widest ranges of tasks for the largest number of businesses and you can find the same package in a one-person business as you can in a blue-chip corporate.”

“But this strength is also a weakness. Many companies with specialist requirements can find that the big software packages can’t do exactly what a particular business wants.”

The answer according to Anderson can be surprisingly simple. “A certified Microsoft developer can tweak the standard Access database to provide a customised solution. In many cases, with a little effort a business can get exactly what it needs.”
