Cast Resin Zoetrope Sculpture in a Forest Haunts Seattle's Friesen Gallery for February
Running Through the Forest, emerging artist Andie DeRoux presents new cast resin and kinetic zoetrope sculptures at Seattle's Friesen Gallery.
(PRWEB) February 11, 2006 -- Friesen Gallery will open an exhibition of mixed media and a kinetic sculpture by emerging artist Andie DeRoux. Running Through the Forest, will open with an artist reception, First Thursday, February 2, 2006. The exhibition features 14 mixed media wall sculptures surrounding his kinetic stroboscopic sculpture. Unique within itself the kinetic stroboscopic sculpture will run several hundred revolutions per minute projecting northwest landscaped animations. DeRoux’s wall sculptures make use of textile materials and hand painted photographic elements encased with resin to form a graphic depth.
"This new body has a deliberate narrative element throughout,” remarks DeRoux on his present body of work. Previous works have been more about each object and how each one represents an idea, the new work tells of a much longer story as a result from experience and history. These mixed media sculptures use textiles and photographic imagery as narrative elements that are emphasized by his the antique aqua green, pale pinks, and antiques whites. These colors create a subtle tone as the viewer eyes run through the landscaped imagery. The kinetic stroboscopic sculpture will run at 400 rmp, a slower speed than his previous kinetic work allowing enough time length to the animations to be viewed while in full rotation.
With over 17 years of experience with Resin and 12 years of experinece making kinetic zoetrope sculptures, this exhibition is sure to be an exciting one for Seattle.
