Magna Medical Services of Florida To Introduce New Standard DUI Urine Drug Test
Magna Medical to push judges in Florida into issuing urine drug tests catered towards DUI misdemeanor offences.
(PRWEB) February 13, 2006 -- Magna Medical is appealing to State of Florida District Chief Judges to approve a new standard in drug testing for 2nd and 3rd DUI Misdemeanor offences. Magna Medical will ask that judges who issue “court ordered” drug tests to request URINE DUI drug tests.
“The concept is really simple, instead of ordering a drug test and separate alcohol test. We are combining both processes into a single urine test.” Says Robert Greene, general manager for Magna Medical Services, Inc.
In an open letter to chief judges across Florida, Magna Medical sites costs as a factor in helping offenders that are finding adhering to court ordered drug tests as being too costly. The cost is between $26-29.00 per test which is about the industry norm for probation drug tests for misdemeanor offences. Magna Medical will work with local correction and probation offices that take part in the new DUI urine drug test.
“Consuming alcohol is not an offence but if you have a ‘history’ of drinking beyond the legal limit to drive, it’s better to monitor the situation versus ignoring it completely” says Greene “The fact is some Florida County Judges are issuing court orders for standard drug tests that do not detect alcohol consumption.
According to Magna Medical, the new standard DUI test usually takes a little longer to process for the results. A program has been set up with selected probation offices across Florida to utilize the service without incurring costs to the department.
Magna Medical hopes that the program becomes the new standard starting in Florida and continuing into other states.
Magna Medical Inc. is a drug collection and testing service based out of Longwood, Florida with offices throughout Florida. Magna Medical and its affiliates meet all State and U.S. Federal requirements for collection and testing procedures.
