Melcher, a seasoned sales and technology entrepreneur, brings extensive European market experience with top photographers and agencies, building on the company’s executive team expertise in the global photo industry. Melcher will be responsible for growing the company’s international membership of world-class photographers and buyers, and guiding innovative feature enhancements for the company’s online service.

Paul Melcher brings 15 years of experience in leadership roles for world-renowned photography agencies and was named by American Photo as one of the “50 most influential individuals in American photography”. Most recently, he was director of North American operations and sales for Hachette Filipacchi Photo Group. In this role he doubled revenues for the US market in less than a year, and led integration initiatives for numerous prestigious agencies such as Gamma, Rapho, and TOP. As president of Abaca US, he led the company’s sales and production teams and cemented key corporate relationships with Knight Ridder Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and PA photos, among others. As executive vice president at ImageDirect, Melcher guided the development of the company’s online real time distribution platform, streamlined workflow to enable better distribution of more images to key buyers, and managed relationships with corporate clients such as ABC, MTV, FOX, NBC, Atlantic Records, USA Today, and the NFL.

Melcher served as director of operations for London Features International, and held a number of executive positions at Corbis Images and LGI Photo Agency. Melcher holds a B.A. in Economics from Universitee de Paris IX, France, and a French Baccalaureate with honors from Lycee International, France.
