Intel is still reeling as the dust settles from Advanced Micro Devices recent "Dual Core Duel." Microchip manufacturing giant, AMD, is looking for other ways to outperform Intel. Encore Productions, a worldwide event management company based in Las Vegas, NV, looks to be the next big step in AMDs campaign.
"This is a major move for both of us," said Bob Parker, Senior Director for Encore. "We've been discussing ways Encore can give AMD a big edge in the tradeshow, conferencing, and meeting venues for about three months. We're excited to get the green light."
Parker, along with Allen Reichard of AMD, worked closely together to draft the agreement that opens doors for both companies. The three year contract between the two parties was signed on January 24, 2006 and will affect over 200 events in the first year alone.
"What this relationship allows AMD to do is focus on their major strengths," said Parker,”while Encore takes care of the event marketing issues. The prime power of both companies will be working in concert at every event from here forward. They're going to come to any given event ready to do microchip business and we're going to facilitate that effort in a way that no other company in our industry can. Our job is to give them the best footing from which to fight."
AMD joins the ranks of other tech industry heavy hitters who use Encore to gain leverage in the event management field such as IBM and Sun Microsystems.
Encore Productions is one of the only event management companies that has the assets, manpower, and the experience to manage for a company as large and complex as AMD. Over the last ten years they have managed every type of event in nearly every country in the world. The common large scale events they will be managing for AMD will be tradeshows, conferences, seminars, and marketing projects such as product releases. They will also cater to AMDs smaller event needs such as meetings, both local and abroad. Their specific list of services includes event management and production, on-site networking and communications, staging and lighting, entertainment, event staffing, hospitality, and multimedia design.
“The overall impact that this relationship will have,” Parker commented, “is that AMD will have smoother events and an image at those events that’s polished to a high sheen. They already outperform their competition in the product war- we’ll help them carry that effort into the tradeshow environment. Our objective is to have AMDs events run so smoothly that the infrastructure for those events is completely unnoticeable. In the tradeshow venues, we’re going to provide such a formidable presence for them wherever they choose to do business that no one will even notice their competition.”
Work between the two companies will begin this month as Encore takes control of several private AMD functions in locations across the globe.
