(PRWEB) February 17, 2006 -- The Getaway Gala, the second Annual fundraiser benefiting The Marcus Institute, will be held on Friday, March 17, 2006 from 7:30pm-11pm at the Atlanta History Center. The fun-filled evening will feature beer and wine, terrific hors d’oeuvres from Low Country Catering, music by the Bradley Cole Smith Band plus a silent auction packed with travel, dining, spa temptations and more.
"It's really gratifying to see the plans for the second annual Getaway Gala unfold,” said The Marcus Institute President and CEO Charlie Shaffer. “This enthusiastic group of emerging community leaders understands what The Marcus Institute is all about. They are determined to win support for our mission, helping our children realize their potential."
Founded by Billi and Bernie Marcus in 1991, The Marcus Institute works with about 4000 children per year with developmental disabilities ranging from autism and fetal alcohol syndrome to milder problems like learning disabilities and other neurological disorders. The costs associated with providing the treatment needed to help children with the above-described disabilities are significant. The Marcus Institute’s programs are designed to give children and their caregivers support, opportunity, encouragement, pride, commitment, and determination.
Tickets for the event, priced $60 in advance, $75 at the door and $250 for patron packages, are on sale at www.marcusgetawaygala.org. For more information, media passes or interviews, contact Claudia Peirce at 404-419-4086.
