Deerhurst Resort is proud to announce that it will become the first Canadian location for ESPN Golf Schools programming when the 2006 season begins later this year.

Deerhurst Resort announced today it will be the first ever Canadian home of ESPN Golf Schools programs starting with the 2006 season.

Widely regarded as one of the premier golf instruction schools in the United States, ESPN Golf Schools Presented by Lexus are prominently located at major golf destinations across the United States and led by renowned teaching professional Hank Haney. Along with expert instruction, ESPN Golf Schools offer a wide range of packages that incorporate instruction along with practice and play sessions, Nike Golf equipment and accommodations.

Golfers will be able to choose from a variety of instructional programs throughout the entire season, ranging from one-day to three-day packages. Package details and available dates are available online at http://www.deerhurstresort.com/espngolf or http://www.espngolfschools.com

"We're very excited to incorporate ESPN Golf Schools into our golf program," said Tyler Rafter, Head Professional at Deerhurst Resort. "This is a tremendous opportunity for our golfers to make a real difference in the quality of their play and overall enjoyment of the game."

"Deerhurst introduced world class golf to Muskoka in 1990 with the creation of Deerhurst Highlands golf course, the first championship style course in the region. Now we're leading the way with top rate instruction as well."

Veteran Canadian PGA teaching professional Dave Castellan, who established the Golf Academy at Deerhurst Resort 6 years ago, will join the team of highly certified ESPN Golf Schools instructors. Just last year, Castellan was named one of the Top 50 golf instructors in Canada.

"Deerhurst Resort is an ideal location for us," said Charlie Ricks, President of ESPN Golf Schools. "Upgrades to the driving range and practice areas provide the ultimate learning environment for our students."

Driving range improvements include re-sodding with target greens and an upgraded drainage system that will permit the range to open earlier in the spring. Construction of a new building for classroom instruction is also planned along with a new short-game practice area.
