Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2006
Lollipop Theater Network (LOLLIPOP), the charity dedicated to bringing the magic of movies to children confined to hospitals due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses nationwide, is proud to partner with Discovery Arts in California. Through this unique collaboration, LOLLIPOP’s new film release screenings will be preceded by Discovery Arts "Arts Adventures" which will engage the pediatric patients in specific arts activities that correspond with the theme of the scheduled film. Both organizations will be able to provide a day of fun, arts, creativity and entertainment all at once to children who are in the hospital.
The collaboration will debut with LOLLIPOP’s screening of Universal Pictures’ NANNY McPHEE at Miller Children’s Hospital on Thursday, February 16th beginning at 1:30pm. The joint program will also be scheduled at Children’s Hospital of Orange County on Tuesday, February 21st and at Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA in March. The program will continue at all three hospitals on an ongoing basis.
Directly prior to the screening, Discovery Arts will guide the children in making magical walking sticks (much like Nanny McPhee’s!) and funny animal hats. The young audience will then become active participants during the film by tapping their sticks whenever NANNY McPHEE does so in the film, creating their own magic!
Both LOLLIPOP and Discovery Arts offer their programs and services free of charge to the hospitals, patients, and their families. They rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations and Foundations to
survive and grow.
