Pixel-oriented advertisements are a revolutionary new approach to the field of online advertising. Based on the idea of selling advertisement space on a high traffic web page by the pixel, pixel advertisements hope to bring a new dimension to online advertising that has not been explored yet. The mission is to benefit both the advertisers and website while drawing internet users to actually view the ads.

With the internet industry expanding rapidly every year, advertisers are struggling to develop new ways to reach people through the new medium as consumers are constantly finding new ways to block the normal popup advertisements. Streaming video, audio, and animated advertisements have all been tried to engage website visitors, but they have not proven very effective, yielding a very low return rate.

Pixel based advertising became popular through milliondollarhomepage.com, a University of England student’s experimental project to pay for his education.

“I want it to become a kind of internet time capsule,” says creator of milliondollarhompage.com Alex Tew, “You will have a piece of internet history!”

After selling out of his million pixels, Tew happily laid his project to rest, as he could afford to go to college ten times over with the money he made, but SPO.com felt that Tew has unknowingly opened a treasure chest of unlimited potential, and thus opened their own site.

Leading the evolution of the pixel-oriented advertisement, SPO.com has equipped itself with an armory of original ideas to break into the market such as separate country pages, linking attractive people’s blogs for free, the addicting “Where’s SPO?” game, and an incredibly easy to remember domain name.

The idea behind all the features at a site that is quite literally one gigantic matrix of advertisements is to provide an environment where users will have an incentive to come visit the site, by choice, and browse the site, thus being exposed to all the various advertisements on the website.

“We at SPO.com know there are countless quality websites out there that do not garner the exposure they deserve,” says SPO.com’s website, “But by providing top quality ad space for a low price, SPO.com hopes to create a gold mine of interesting websites that people will spend hours browsing.”

A minimum purchase at SPO.com is 100 pixels, or a ten by ten pixel box, at a price of $1.20 a pixel.
