Bucharest, Romania (PRWEB) February 20, 2006 -- Tachyon Media, a Bucharest, Romania-based technology company, hopes to capitalize on the consumer phenomenon of “tagging” (a consumer driven method of organizing online content) with the introduction of its “tagvertising” website TheTagPage.com ( www.thetagpage.com ).

The price of a tag determines its weight or the extent to which it is displayed in a more attention-getting style
TheTagPage.com uses a visual design system called “tag clouds” (also known as a weighted list) to depict content tags on a website. TheTagPage.com uses word tags depicted in larger or more colorful fonts as a way to weigh otherwise “floating” or “uncategorized” content hence the moniker “tag clouds.”

“The price of a tag determines its weight or the extent to which it is displayed in a more attention-getting style,” said Mr. Andrei Alecu. “In addition, the idea of weighting tags, depending on the price spent on them, or their popularity, adds to the experience. It can also make for fun surfing by regular visitors, trying to discover what's behind that flashy tag.”

Assigning fees and generating ad revenue for links is common on the Internet. However, TheTagPage.com takes advantage of an emerging advertising paradigm known as “tagvertising.” “Tagvertising” employs a business model in which advertisers pay for a text tag which is also part of a developing consumer driven content taxonomy.

“We’re expanding on Alex Tew’s The Million Dollar Homepage idea in that we're selling tags (in the form of text links) as advertising. Depicted tags are more or less emphasized based on the amount an advertiser pays. We're also giving away free tags if an individual or company helps spread the word about the website,” added Alecu.

The price for exclusive tags at TheTagPage.com starts at $200 and increases depending on the size of the text and number of characters. The price for a shared tag is $40 for up to 6 characters and $10 for each additional character. A shared tag is one that is used by more than one website.

Free shared tags may be obtained by mentioning TheTagPage.com in an article or review on a website or blog. Online mentions entitle the website to a free tag on TheTagPage.com site for at least 6 months. Shared tags may be renewed by updating content with new reviews or articles.
