RepliWeb, Inc., the leader in Enterprise Web Content and Application deployment solutions, announces the release of its R-1 Distribution Manager version 3.5 with integrated IIS6 Metabase replication and an enhanced Web Interface for "Content Publishers."
R-1 3.5's Metabase Replication is crucial to any organization with large web farms, Portal or eCommerce environments that have recently standardized or planning to standardize on MS Windows 2003 servers. Through a single, unified product (R-1), web server administrators can automate the publishing of the complete website - files, web content and IIS6 Metabase, to one, dozens or hundreds of target servers connected via LAN or WAN. The complete update process occurs behind the scenes, with no service interruptions or down-time, and is especially useful when deploying complete sites or bringing new servers online. R-1 ensures web farms are synchronized with the most up to date content, code and Metabase in an automated, uninterrupted manner.
Over the last few years R-1 has been deployed in hundreds of large web infrastructure environments, frequently in tandem with third-party Portal, Web Services and Content Management Systems (CMS). Our exposure to these large, demanding IT environments has driven R-1 from a file replication product to a comprehensive Content Publishing Platform", commented Garrick Herrmann, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RepliWeb. "Our ability to automate the deployment of complete web sites (both content and metadata) to large server farms is helping IT Organizations save time and reduce operating costs. Our ability to manage the deployment of IIS6 Metabase is the first of many new features that will allow R-1 to seamlessly integrate with Portal, Web Services and Content Management Systems.
Windows web farm administrators understand the pains associated with updating IIS6 Metabase. Other automation solutions such as MS Application Center require significant integration work, carry high per-server licensing cost, and has a defined end of life for mainstream support of June 2006. R-1 provides a cost effective and easy-to-deploy solution as an alternative to MS Site Server 3.0 (CRS) and Application Center for publishing functionality.
In addition to the automated IIS6 Metabase replication capability R-1 also includes rapid rollback functionality. In the event that wrong content/code is published to production, IT Administrators can rapidly restore all production servers to a specific data state or point in time. R-1 also delivers auditing capabilities which can help businesses meet compliance requirements.
Also new with the R-1 3.5 release is the enhanced Web Interface for Content Publishers. This "execution-only" Web Interface allows IT Admins to create specific publishing scenarios and assign them to "End-Users" such as Senior Content Creators, QA Managers, Developers, Marketing Staff, etc. These End-Users then have the ability to initiate and monitor publishing processes through R-1's WebUI, without being able to modify or change any scenario settings. This enables the IT Department to meet defined business practices without compromising security and configuration settings.
For Users that previously relied on manual processes, or internally developed solutions for updating production web servers, R-1 v3.5 now offers a completely automated, fault tolerant solution for updating IIS6 Metabase, Web Content and Applications. R-1's v.3.5 release continues to demonstrate R-1's leadership in providing the most feature rich, cost effective web content publishing platform for Enterprises and Government Users.
