Swisslog Healthcare Solutions Division announces the release of it’s new Infection Control Procedure for the Transport of Specimens in a Swisslog Pneumatic Tube System.
The 8-page document outlines specimen transport and handling issues relating to potential spills associated with automated material transport in hospitals. Included are guidelines for container testing, and secure packaging of specimens
The report focuses on pneumatic tube system use – and addresses system spill procedure, decontamination and disinfectant situations. Swisslog has monitored reports provided by safety regulation agencies including the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) and has incorporated pertinent references to agency reports and guidelines.
Swisslog provides a comprehensive hospital training program for it’s pneumatic tube system users entitled “Template for Pneumatic Tube System Protocol” which has become a standard in many North American hospital institutions. The Infection Control Procedure is presented as an integral component in that protocol program.
The new Infection Control document new incorporates agency contact information, web resources, and references to pertinent infection control publications, agencies and more.
