Dr. David Weiman presents his popular seminar on the psychology of buying and selling jewelry at the Jewelry Arts Expo on April 21. This seminar teaches handcrafted jewelry makers how to market and sell more effectively.

Dr. David Weiman, a licensed psychologist and expert on marketing and selling handcrafted jewelry, presents his two-hour seminar The 5 Keys to Selling Jewelry at the Jewelry Arts Expo on Friday, April 21 at the Ft. Washington Expo Center in suburban Philadelphia.

Weiman’s seminar explains the personality of buyers of handmade jewelry, and teaches jewelry makers – step by step – how to turn casual prospects into loyal customers.

“The people buying handcrafted, artisan-made jewelry are a special breed,” Weiman says. “And the most successful jewelry makers ask the right questions of those prospective buyers to unlock their real motivations. The more a jewelry maker understands the buyer’s personality, the better the connection they make, and the more sales they get.”

In addition to teaching about the psychology of buying, Weiman’s seminar also helps participants recognize and prepare to overcome common obstacles that jewelry makers face.

“Many artisan jewelers have a tendency to under-value their work,” Weiman explains. “They can be their own harshest critics. That mindset can get in the way of asking for the right price for their jewelry. It can also make them sensitive to the sting of rejection. We address those kinds of self-defeating thoughts head-on in the seminar, and discuss how to eliminate them forever.”

Other topics include the power of setting goals, how to write a business plan, how to learn more about a prospect’s jewelry preferences, how to set prices and how to learn about competitors. The seminar concludes with an open forum question-and-answer session.
