Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) February 22, 2006
Third Channel Communications LLC, announces today a joint partnership with Hungama Mobile, a leading provider of mobile marketing applications covering South Asia to provide Hollywood and Western-style content to millions of cell phone subscribers in India and South Asia. The Asia Pacific region will reach 1.06 billion subscribers by 2011, making this the largest regional 3G market in the world. India is the fastest growing English speaking mobile market in the world, expecting to grow to more than 250 million subscribers by 2010, up from approximately 80 million subscribers today.
“We chose to partner with Hungama Mobile because of their large footprint in the region”, says Terry Balagia, Partner, Third Channel. “Third Channel is the brand for Western content on mobile devices, and our partnership with Hungama will solidify our presence in the Indian marketplace and beyond.”
The launch content currently available on Indian carriers Hutch and Tata is 10, 20, and 30 second high-fashion and music video clips available for download to user’s cell phones and will soon expand to include movie trailers, sports highlights, TV, music, animation, and mobile games. “We’ve had offers to go with any one of a dozen western content providers but found Third Channel much further vested into new media than others North America," adds Neeraj Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Hungama.
The Wireless World Forum’s World Youth report of 2005 identified India as a key market for growth, where the consumption of Western-style entertainment is voracious in the Indian market where 60% of the population is under the age of 34. “We’re moving aggressively into this market,” remarks Beverly Macy, Partner, Third Channel Communications. “The research supports our move with estimates of up to $43 billion dollars to be spent on content and voice services in this region by 2007.”
