(PRWEB) February 21, 2006 -- On Thursday, February 23, 2006, the Arpa Foundation for Film, Music and Art (AFFMA) will sponsor a benefit for Vero Film’s “Prodigal Dancer.” Hosted by Vero Film founder, Vera Kessedjian, this event’s proceeds will support production of Vero Film’s first major film, “Prodigal Dancer.”

“Prodigal Dancer” is a compelling story of a prodigal son’s return set against the youthful energy of Ireland’s traditional dancing tradition. This film follows one man’s journey through love and loss as he searches to regain the passion he once had for his two great loves – Step Dancing and his dancing partner.

“Prodigal Dancer” was developed with the support of the Irish Film Board (Bord Scannan na hEireann) and is directed by Dermott Petty, independent film writer and director of such projects as “Manband” and “Paddy Takes a Meeting.” Petty, winner of the DramaLogue critic’s award for theater direction, wrote directed, and produced “Paddy Takes a Meeting” which received critical acclaim at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2003.

In addition to Dermott Petty, the cast and crew of “Prodigal Dancer” is an impressive resume of film experience. Talent, production and other elements attached to the project are: actress Paula Malcomson (“Deadwood”, “A.I.”, “The Green Mile”); cinematographer Jack Conroy (“My Left Foot”, “The Field”, “The Nephew”); creative consultant Deborah Gilels; line producer Fred Kennamer (“Child 2 Man”; “Traveling Companion”); business affairs and legal representative Bill Grantham; and casting by Moiselle Casting of Dublin, Ireland.

Founded in 1999 by Vera Kessedjian, L.A.-based Vero Film’s mission is to produce insightful visual imagery and compelling storylines.
