OverstockArt.com’s new “Limited Editions Gallery” can provide talented, promising artists with immediate income and an opportunity for artists to get the exposure they so desperately need.

Throughout history, the world has come to love several great artists, most of whom were poor and relatively unknown in their lifetime. However, in many cases their genius was recognized after their death and their art became priceless.

These days, artists are facing many of the same issues, especially if they do not reside in large trend setting metropolitan cities. OverstockArt.com long known as the Internet’s premier source for handmade oil paintings is now venturing towards offering a solution to this age-old problem. OverstockArt.com’s new “Limited Editions Gallery” can provide talented, promising artists with more then just immediate income; it is an opportunity for artists to get the exposure they so desperately need.

OverstockArt.com’s “Limited Editions Gallery” will initially include paintings from six pre-selected artists. Each artist will have the opportunity to present four of his/her “best” creations. The art will then be reproduced by hand as oil painting on canvas. Each piece will have a first edition of only 10 reproductions.

These reproduced works will be, as all of OverstockArt.com works are, hand made oil on canvas. The works will be numbered and signed by the artist. This is a great opportunity for OverstockArt.com’s art loving community, to get to know new upcoming artists. Included with the painting will be a certificate of authenticity and a detailed biography of the artist so customers can get to know the artist on a more personal level.

David Sasson, CEO of OverstockArt.com comments, “I love this idea because it is a win-win situation; we are opening our doors to customers who are looking for original art and great value, and the artists get to display their art on a prominent website along side masters such as Van Gogh and Monet.” The artists, according to Sasson, will be able to earn income both from the sale of the originals and from the sale of the reproductions.

Ben Bryant, one of the artists that will be showcased in the gallery is also very excited about this opportunity: “This is like a dream come true for every artist. The thought of my paintings being reproduced and sold to art connoisseurs around the world is very exciting and allows me to focus on my art and create a name for myself.”

OverstockArt.com is still accepting applications from aspiring artist who wish to take part in this project. To participate, please send photos of 4 paintings along with a detailed description of the artwork including name, medium and dimensions. Six artists will be selected, and their works will be reproduced and displayed on http://www.overstockart.com. Please email all the information to asasson(at)overstockart.com.
