GoComics Launches GoComics Books - Mobile Comic Books For Your Phone

As part of their expanding line of comics content, GoComics, a leader in mobile entertainment announces “GoComics Books.” Fans can now read comic books on their mobile phones in the original multi-panel format with a unique, downloadable comics reader application.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) February 22, 2006 -- As part of their expanding line of comics content, GoComics, a leader in mobile entertainment announces “GoComics Books.” Fans can now read comic books on their mobile phones in the original multi-panel format with a unique, downloadable comics reader application. GoComics Books provides a rich graphic presentation of comic book content in a fun new format and enhances the GoComics brand with new titles and quality features.

Launching early April, GoComics Books will include three new titles joining the already impressive GoComics line. Slated for release in the early Spring of 2006 is an eclectic blend of features that appeal to dedicated comic book readers and new fans alike. Titles include the new “cosmic” superhero comic GØDLAND, the geek and gamer strip PvP, and the too hip, too weird, Too Much Coffee Man. Bundled into one monthly subscription package, all stories are published in an anthology format with new pages for each title added every day.

GoComics Books presents comics in a panel-by-panel format for quick viewing and a simple interface that offers a great user experience. GoComics has optimized the original comics for the mobile screen, subtly adjusting and refining layouts and improving legibility and readability. This process has paid off, giving an essential vibrancy to this new comics format.

GØDLAND, a popular fan title with a fresh take on the cosmic sci-fi superhero genre, is a perfect fit for this new media. Co-Creator Joe Casey said, “GØDLAND is a series that deals with the future of mankind. We were quick to jump onto the future of entertainment delivery systems. For me, this new technology is as mind-blowing as the ideas comic readers find in every episode of GØDLAND."

Web and Gamer-based PvP Online is a Web and print favorite. Creator Scott Kurtz said, “I'm really excited to be working with GoComics and uclick/Universal Press Syndicate. I've had offers from other fly-by-night operations regarding mobile phone content and PvP but I always turn them down. I'm happy that uclick is offering this product. I know they’re legit and they're going to be here to deliver a good product to my readers. I'm excited at their willingness to work with Web cartoonists. This is a great opportunity to access GoComics market and audience to get the word out about web comics.”

Noted independent cartoonist Shannon Wheeler, creator of the Eisner-winning Too Much Coffee Man, had this to say about the new medium for comics: “Wireless comics on your mobile-phone is the 'horseless carriage' of our time.”

According to GoComics Mobile Content Director, Jeff Webber, “We’re really excited to offer this great eclectic mix of top creative work. Offering such a wide range in our first product launch invites fans to sample this new line and offers them a unique opportunity to catch up on comics wherever and whenever they want - on the bus, at the park or standing in line. This is just the start, we plan to announce more titles and top comic and manga brands soon.”
