Indie Filmmakers Corey Ramey and Kirsten Person-Ramey of Cool People Entertainment LLC Continue to Work Toward Hollywood as Their First Feature Makes Its Festival Debut
Proud, Mary, the indie feature by hubby/wife team Corey and Kirsten will screen on March 4, 2006 at 4 pm.
(PRWEB) February 23, 2006 -- Proud, Mary, the indie feature by hubby/wife team Corey and Kirsten will screen on March 4, 2006 at 4 pm.
When Proud, Mary made its debut back in November at Cinefe Theatre, the purpose was to not only build an initial buzz, but most importantly for the actors to see themselves on the big screen. With the help of business owner Lee May, the Ramey duo made that a reality for over 200 guests including Jerry Epps (Marvin), Wes Cook (Jeff), Rushia M. Cooper (Paula), Sunday Morning, Hattie Williams (rehab patients) Deborah Ware (the best extra in the world/recording artist) and crew members Omar Higgins, John Malahy, Sandra Miller, Tawana Parker, and Glenda Richardson and her entire family from New York. Four months to the date, that same magic will take place when Proud, Mary screens at a pre-festival event for The Cultures in Motion International Film Festival (www.black-cinema.org) The screening came as a surprsie to the Rameys after festival director, Len Gibson suggested that a screener be sent to him after a member of his team recommended the film for the actual festival that takes place in May. The festival will honor the work of the late Dr. Martin Luther and Mrs. Coretta King. Corey and Kirsten are touched by this factor alone since it is their desire to not only make films, but promote social justice and equality throughout their careers.
In attendance at the event besides the Rameys and their actor daughters Amaris, Aria, and Anais who all appeared in the film, will be Dorothy Ramey, Corey's grandmother who appears in the opening title sequence; Cayla Rose Williams, a child actor; casting director Lori Samuels, and executive producers Shirley and Auther Person. The filmmakers will do a q & a after the film.
Steve Warren, who also was featured in Cool People Entertainment's 2003, "Music Therapy 101" and a host of other films will rub elbows with the beautiful Roudie Augustin who recently completed her first calendar (avaiable at http://www.roudieonline.com/store.php) and scored a role on a television pilot; as well as St. Eyes, rapper from North Carolina who starred as St. Eyes in the film and recently finished his debut album "The Only Lyne that Matters" with business partner Natasha L. Ball.
It just wouldn't be a party without funny couple Alex Gardener and Mia Jackson, (of The Hall of Comedy) who portrayed Lyle and Verna in the film. They will be joined by music producer Darnell "Big D" Dalton who is currently working with his partner with r & b sensation Torica.
Last, but certainly not least, Shannon "Sope" Watson, investor and co-star of the movie will be in attendance. The innovative music producer is eager to network with others about his various upcoming projects. All in all, this is sure to be one happy family reunion.
