Michigan’s Golf Course Information Source Website Launched

areagreens.com launches dynamic website with the information most needed by golfers about all of Michigan’s private and public golf courses.

Royal Oak, MI (PRWEB) February 23, 2006 -- areagreens.com (http://www.areagreens.com) launches dynamic website with the information most needed by golfers about all of Michigan’s private and public golf courses. areagreens.com utilizes it’s relationships with golf professionals and course owners to provide comprehensive information about each course. These relationships have made it possible for areagreens.com to give away rounds of golf throughout the golf season to help promote golfing in Michigan.

The real power of the website is the impressive database that drives the content provided and enables users to search for Michigan golf courses on any word (for instance, city name, course name, zip code, area code, etc.). This also helps with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). For instance, if a golfer searches for a golf course using Google or Yahoo, areagreens will have a listing for that course. Courses submit information to areagreens.com including address and pro shop phone number, as well as more detailed information including pictures, specific descriptions, prices, dynamic score cards, course layouts, yardages, professional golf pro profiles and coupons.

“areagreens.com’s model is clever,” said Scott Lirett, a long time golfing professional. “They provide a great service for all golfers and golf courses. The golfers get the information they want and the courses have a professional site on which to provide their information. Plus, the courses get advertising at no cost and we golfers can win rounds of golf by simply providing our email address… everybody wins!”

Creator Tom Willis said his objective was simple, “I wanted to create an easy to use, completely free website to golfers about ALL of Michigan's great golf courses, not just the one’s that pay to be listed.” Sean Blenkhorn, areagreen’s chief technologist, followed by saying, “We’ve been able to do this effectively by doing two things: 1) we’ve built a comprehensive database of all of Michigan’s golf courses and 2) we’ve offered several packages to choose from, one of which is completely free to the golf course.”

For the golf courses, the website offers three packages: the Putter, the Iron, and the Driver. The Putter package contains the core course information and is absolutely free to the golf courses. The Iron and Driver packages contain additional information such as course photos, descriptions, weekday and weekend costs, score cards, etc. The Iron and Driver packages are provided at a very reasonable price to the golf courses. And, if a course so chooses, they can opt to “pay” with rounds of golf instead of using cash or check. This provides the golf courses with a net-zero costs option. The website turns right around and gives away a portion of those rounds to loyal areagreens.com users… a true win-win for all.

“Golfers, both local and tourist, had expressed frustration with the lack of information available online when trying to find a course to play,” said Willis, “Other websites that were available only contain information about certain courses or they appeared to be cluttered with advertising and misleading links. As golf lovers, we decided to step in and create a one-stop information source for golf courses in the state of Michigan.”

In the future, areagreens.com plans to provide the same great service in all 50 states.
