Prestigious World Wide College of Auctioneering Inducts African American Auctioneer Rowlan Hill into “Auctioneer Hall of Fame/Hall of Champions"

Hill becomes first African American selected to instruct at World’s leading auctioneer school.

World Wide College of Auctioneering, based in Mason City, Iowa, recently inducted champion 20-year veteran auctioneer Rowlan Hill to its Auctioneering Hall of Fame/Hall of Champions. Hill is the first African American auctioneer to be inducted into this prestigious club and the first African American chosen to be an instructor at the world’s leading auctioneer school. World Wide College has trained over 35,000 auctioneers in its 75-year history.

The school’s president Paul C. Behr states, “Colonel Hill exemplifies the bid calling ability all auctioneers wish to achieve. He recently won the Pacific Open Championship competing against some of the best in the business. We are proud to have Col. Hill as a member of our instructor staff.” Behr further exclaimed, “Congratulations, Colonel Hill. We are proud of you!”

“It is a privilege to be inducted into the World Wide College of Auctioneering Hall of Fame/Hall of Champions,” Hill remarked. “To be placed amongst the legendary champion auctioneers is genuinely an honor.” The award winning auctioneer continued, “I accept this privilege with immense respect and gratitude. It’s not everyday that one gets a call to be part of such an elite group of professionals.”

Rowlan Hill is a 20-year veteran champion auctioneer. His broad-based selling experience includes fine art, livestock, real estate and more for private estates, public charities and corporations. Fluent in Spanish, Hill has mastered auctions in Canada and Mexico, and maintains expert auctioneer status throughout the United States. Though equally adept at auctioning fine art at a black-tie affair as he is selling horses in jeans and sweatshirt, activities that appeal to him most are emceeing and selling at celebrity fundraising benefits and high-profile charity affairs.

Hill is winner of the International Livestock Championship (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and is 2005 Pacific Open Auctioneer Pro Division Champion (San Diego, CA).

Hill maintains active affiliations with the following professional organizations: American Bureau of Auction Marketing Exchange (ABAMEX), Arizona State Auctioneers Association,, California State Auctioneers Association, Industrial Auctioneers Association, National Auctioneers Association, Ratcliff Auctioneers, Inc., and Tri-state Auction Systems.

The Bakersfield, CA native earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Arts from Northern Arizona University. Rowlan Hill currently resides in Phoenix, AZ.
