American P.R.I.D.E. Movement Aims To Rebuild The Esteem and Identity of American Citizens of African Descent

The Movement was created to make American society uncomfortable with "the way things are". PRIDE = P-eople R-ecognizing I-gnorance and D-etermined to E-levate

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) February 24, 2006 -- The American P.R.I.D.E Movement was designed primarily to reverse the attitude of complete disregard and complacency concerning the socio-economic dilemma in African American culture. It was created to make American society uncomfortable with "the way things are". The Movement was created primarily to help rebuild the Esteem and Identity of American citizens of African descent that was destroyed by the American system and is still being disregarded.

The American P.R.I.D.E. Movement
Marvin The Moor, a graduate of Hunter College – CUNY, founded the American P.R.I.D.E. Movement in 2002. It was a combination of Marvin’s personal realization of the severe social condition of Americans of African descent, namely, those in the urban area in which he was raised and, the urgent need for a productive move toward progression, that led to the development of “The American P.R.I.D.E. Movement”.

The Overall Mission of The Movement is to, 1) provoke critical thought, which would, in turn, serve as a catalyst to promote the social upliftment of Americans of African descent, 2) to charge young Americans of African descent with a sense of cultural identity and responsibility, 3) to improve overall awareness and sensitivity on the case for reparations on a national and global level, 4) to reinforce the significance of our forebears in America, and ensure their contribution to this nation will never be forgotten.

In efforts to accomplish this mission, The American P.R.I.D.E. Movement has established a platform via the Internet - www.theamericanpridemovement.com -, where extensive educational information pertaining to African American history is introduced, along with items (t-shirts, mugs, posters, calendars, etc) brandishing unique and provocative images. These images are accompanied by an even more provoking social truth that directly affects the African American community. Ideally, these measures are intended to saturate American society with the message of The Movement, highlight the issues plaguing the African American community, and encourage critical thought concerning these issues, leading to a productive move toward change.

The American P.R.I.D.E. Movement addresses an issue that affects so many, that the restrictions of age; sex and even race are seriously impaired. The American P.R.I.D.E. Movement has the true potential of becoming an American phenomenon. With serious investors and sponsors to help catapult this project to its full potential, The American P.R.I.D.E. Movement will serve to harness the elusive "Black Unity".
