Parent Coaching The Newest Trend in Home-Based Businesses

Home-based businesses are the wave of the present and the future. Parent coaching is fast becoming one of today's best choices for individuals because every parent-coach relationship has a common thread....a relationship based on helping parents obtain goals and achieve success for their families and their children.

Whitney, TX (PRWEB) February 24, 2006 -- The field of parent coaching is loaded with opportunity and choice. There is no one way of training or being a parent coach. Instead, there are a variety of choices, which enables entrepreneurs to design a career that compliments their lifestyle, existing career or long-term goals.

A number of choices and training options for parent coaches and a number of coach certification programs are available, and most offer online, teleclass, and in person training options. Individuals training to be parent coaches have two courses of study. They can either become a certified lifestyle coach with a parent coaching as their niche specialty or become a certified parent coach. Programs like the ACPI Certified Parent Coach program specifically train individuals to become parent coaches.

Once certified, parent coaches typically enjoy the flexibility of working from home. They hold client meetings either over the telephone, through E-mail, in person or any combination of the three. How and when these meetings take place are up to the coach, as are the number of clients the coach chooses to take on. Some coaches prefer to work part time and pursue outside interests or raise their families, while others choose to build a full-time practice.

In their practices, parent coaches can work with one or both parents and the situations they encounter are as varied as their client base.

One Coach’s Choice

When seasoned parent coach Peggy Alvarado began to feel stifled in her software technology career, she started exploring her options.

“I started to realize how I really didn’t fit anymore in that career,” says Alvarado. “It was like I wanted more. I started inquiring with my human resources department about coaching. It was clear to me that coaching was the way to go, but not clear to me that I could make the exact money that I could in corporate. Then when I started my family, it was much more important for me to give time to my family life, which then made my coaching career prominent.”
