It seems like everyone is giving away Apple iPods these days, but New Holland has a new twist on their video iPod contest at this year’s Commodity Classic in Anaheim, CA. It will be loaded with pictures, audio and video from the corn and soybean convention – as well as the new CD from country music star Michael Peterson.
Peterson, who was country music's top selling new male artist in both 1997 and 1998 and is best known for his hits “From Here to Eternity” and “Drink, Swear, Steal and Lie,” will be performing sets during the Classic trade show. His new CD features the title song “Down on the Farm” which includes the lyrics “she even suggested painting New Holland Blue on the barn.”
“It’s a great song,” said New Holland’s Gene Hemphill, Manager of Industry Affairs for the company’s North American Agricultural Business. “But those who see Michael Peterson during the Commodity Classic’s General Session on Friday morning, March 3, will learn to appreciate his contributions much more clearly.”
The CD is currently only available from New Holland dealers and many are also featuring Peterson at promotional events.
“The winner of the Classic Video i-Pod will receive the CD pre-loaded on to the player, as well as a personalized message from Michael, and all the sights and sounds of the Commodity Classic in California,” Hemphill said.
The sights and sounds will be provided by Chuck Zimmerman of ZimmComm New Media, who will be “blogging” the event on three agricultural web logs – AgWired (http://www.agwired.com), DomesticFuel (http://www.domesticfuel.com) and World Dairy Diary (http://www.worlddairydiary.com).
“Blogging is fast becoming a new method of multi-media event coverage which is especially suited for niche audiences like agriculture,” Zimmerman said. “It can provide text, photos, audio and video all easily accessible on one website, on demand.”
Of course, the Video iPod will also still have plenty of room on it to load and enjoy movies, television programs and other video and audio content.
