Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) February 27, 2006 -- Sam, The World’s Ugliest Dog, who died last October to worldwide attention, now rests in a beautiful, crystal memorial thanks to Memory Glass LLC, a start-up company located in Santa Barbara Ca.-- right in Sam’s backyard. Sam’s ashes are now immortalized in a customized, memorial keepsake, permanently suspended within a crystal-clear, hand-blown glass sculpture and pendant.

Sam, a purebred Chinese Crested Hairless, was the three time, hands-down undefeated champion of the “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest (2003, 2004 & 2005, visit the "samugliestdog" website). When Sam died, his owner, Susie Lockheed, had only photos, articles and awards to remember him by. After Sam was cremated, she learned that Memory Glass, located in her own town of Santa Barbara, could create permanent, personalized memorial keepsakes out of glass. Making Sam’s sculpture and pendant keepsakes only required a small amount of his ashes, giving Ms. Lockheed the option of scattering, burying or placing the rest of his ashes in an urn.

Ms. Lockheed personalized a crystal globe sculpture with Sam’s ashes delicately swirled inside, choosing a pink glass wrap around the base. She also customized a pink glass pendant containing his ashes that she wears as a necklace.

“I miss Sam every day, but now I can keep him close to my heart,” commented Lockheed. “I was able to watch my ‘ugly’ Sam transform into a beautiful sculpture. The people at Memory Glass are so thoughtful and kind, they were ever so respectful with Sam’s ashes, and have given me beautiful, permanent pieces of art to remind me of Sam.”

Memory Glass, a new company with an international reach, is dedicated to creating top-quality, personalized hand-blown glass memorial keepsakes as a lasting tribute to loved ones. Memory Glass provides an affordable alternative or accompaniment to traditional memorials, and ensures that their customers, their customers’ loved ones, and their memorials are treated with the utmost respect. Memory Glass is available through funeral homes, or through the web.
