A leader in Enterprise Web Content Deployment Solutions, today announced that MSN Israel of Tel Aviv, Israel, has selected RepliWeb's R-1 Distribution Manager to deploy web content and applications, and guarantee content "freshness" for its portfolio of Web Portals (https://www.msn.co.il, http://singles.msn.co.il/msnsingles & http://www.start.co.il).
MSN's portfolio of portals receives millions of visits per month. Maintaining these highly popular and frequently visited portals requires the best in management software, hardware and networking infrastructure. MSN has relied on legacy Site Server 3.0 (CRS) software for web content deployment and site management functions. Primary support for Site Server ended in 2002 and extended support agreements no longer allow for updates and fixes. Although Site Server performed well for MSN, they required a new solution for deploying critical web content and applications to their extensive production server environment.
MSN's technology selection criteria focused on manageability, uninterrupted operations, content deployment performance and scalability. Core functionality requirements included content rollback capabilities, automated recoverable file transfers, and IIS6 Metabase replication. Additionally, a Vendors experience with Site Server Migrations and their ability to provide highly responsive, quality customer support were critical components of their selection process.
MSN quickly narrowed their search to RepliWeb's (http://www.repliweb.com) R-1 Distribution Manager. R-1 is recognized as the leading solution for replacing Site Server CRS for web content publishing. R-1 offers extensive publishing functionality delivers real-time replication capabilities and can easily handle production environments that include hundreds of servers.
After extensive stress testing, which included large-file and high volume deployments, multiple rollback scenarios and manipulation of the network connectivity, R-1 was certified for production deployment. Installation of the RepliWeb R-1 Distribution Manager required absolutely no downtime for MSN's production servers and website. The migration process consisted of installing R-1 on live production server, running it side-by-side with Site Server, creating new R-1 publishing policies and eventually taking down Site Server.
R-1 is used to: upload new web content and applications, delete obsolete or expired content; run post replication scripts; and update IIS Metabase - all accompanied with detailed reporting.
"The R-1 implementation was extremely efficient. The fact that we had no downtime, and that it could be installed on live Site Server enabled servers saved us a lot of time and hassles", commented David Kariv, MSN's CTO. "R-1 has already had a positive impact on our production environment and we've realized cost savings, performance improvements, and reduced support requirements".
"Working with industry leaders such as MSN is extremely rewarding for RepliWeb. They push our product to new levels and help drive product innovation" commented Garrick Herrmann, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RepliWeb. "We've assisted hundreds of Companies with Site Server Migration projects such as MSN's. R-1's open architecture allows for implementation into just about any type of web publishing environment and its industry proven performance and stability delivers immediate ROI. I think it's fair to say that RepliWeb offers its Customers tremendous value for their IT investments".
