County of San Bernardino Supervisor Gary Ovitt Endorses Brenda Salas for 65th Assembly race.
Today, Banning City Councilwoman Brenda Salas has announced the endorsement of San Bernardino County Supervisor Gary Ovitt in her bid for Assembly seat in the 65th District.
(PRWEB) March 2, 2006 -- Today, Banning City Councilwoman Brenda Salas has announced the endorsement of San Bernardino County Supervisor Gary Ovitt in her bid for Assembly seat in the 65th District.
Salas and Ovitt share similar goals for the Inland Empire. Salas and Ovitt come from the same Alma Mater, University of Redlands. Both served on their city council for six years, before seeking higher office positions.
Salas, like Ovitt, is committed to public safety. Salas is a regional co- chair for Jessica’s Law, while Supervisor Ovitt serves as a statewide co-chair for the initiative.
In addition to public safety, Ovitt and Salas feel that transportation is an important issue for legislatures to consider being that the Inland Empire is one of the fastest growing areas in California. Ovitt currently serves in the transportation planning authority for San Bernardino County, while Salas is president for Transportation Now and serves on the Riverside Transit Agency.
“Supervisor Ovitt is a highly respected member of our community. His endorsement shows the increasing strength of my campaign in the San Bernardino portion of the district,” says Salas. “It is an honor to have his support in this race.”
Ovitt states, “Brenda Salas will go to Sacramento to fight for the Inland Empire. Tough on taxes and wasteful spending, Brenda will bring our fair share of tax dollars back to the region.”
Prior to running for the State Assembly seat, Salas served as a legislative aide to Republican County Supervisor Marion Ashley and City Councilwoman for the City of Banning, Ca., Brenda Salas continues to be an active member of her community.
Brenda is also helping to build the local Republican Party as a founding member of the Riverside County Young Republicans, a board member of the Lincoln Club of Riverside, former 2nd Vice President of the San Gorgonio Pass Republican Women Federated, and a member of the Reagan Forum.
