Mississauga Hockey League Launches Play-More - A New Program Combining Player Assistance with Academic Achievement

The Mississauga Hockey League (MHL) and its eight member Associations announce the launch of Play-More, an innovative program that combines assistance to players unable to play due to severe financial constraints with a commitment to academic achievement.

(PRWEB) March 1, 2006 -- Today, the Mississauga Hockey League (MHL) and its eight member Associations announce the launch of Play-More, an innovative program that combines assistance to players unable to play due to severe financial constraints with a commitment to academic achievement.

The Play-More program removes barriers and provides any eligible Mississauga resident hockey player with the opportunity to play hockey at all levels of competition.

However, hockey is just one part of a player’s experience - education is another. Achieving success in both is the guiding principle of the Play-More program. As part of the program, the Mississauga Hockey League will work with the students and parents on this initiative to help monitor the player/student’s progress academically and on the ice. Positive feedback from both could result in renewal for the following season should the assistance conditions remain the same.

The objectives:

1. Provide the assistance for a player to play hockey.

2. Offer a renewal incentive for the player to “give back” by encouraging him/her to improve in school and demonstrate positive behavior both on and off the ice.

Funding for the Play-More program is provided by the Mississauga Hockey League, its Associations, and selected Partners.

For more information about Play-More, contact Brad Norris or visit www.hockey.on.ca for complete details.
