J. McLaughlin, the "proudly preppy fashion firm," opens new shop in the exclusive Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. Shoppers will find a vast array of gorgeous spring clothes and accessories for women and men.
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 1, 2006 -- J. McLaughlin is pleased to announce the grand opening of its newest shop in the Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. J. McLaughlin, nicknamed “the proudly preppy fashion firm” by luxury magazine Quest, is known for its colorful, witty interpretations of traditional sportswear and accessories for women and men. J. McLaughlin now has 30 stores along the East Coast and in the Midwest. Says Steven Siegler, CEO, “We’re delighted to be in Myers Park. Many of our neighbors already know us from New York, Boston, Nantucket, Charleston and Palm Beach, so already, we feel right at home.”
Neighbors will hardly recognize the former antique shop at 421 Providence Road. Situated in a charming Arts & Crafts-style bungalow, the new J. McLaughlin shop is a riot of color, style and design. Says Doug Larson of Larson and Paul Architects, New York, “No two J.
McLaughlin stores are ever alike. We always let the space tell us what it wants to be.” In this case, the bungalow’s inner diva demanded separate spaces with distinctive colored awnings for the women’s and men’s areas, as well as a different color palette for each room. Hence the visual feast of midnight blue, chocolate brown, ocean coral, juicy orange, lime green, cherry red and other luscious colors. Adds Larson, “Suffice it to say, the shop makes people smile.”
Inside, shoppers will find a vast array of gorgeous spring clothes and accessories including silk halter dresses, embroidered coats, flowered jackets with colored piping, smart canvas captain’s jackets, colorful cotton pants, hand-tailored cotton shirts, silk ties and scarves, as well as the company’s signature totes and bags. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
J. McLaughlin was founded by brothers Jay and Kevin McLaughlin in 1977. Unlike any other retailer in the casual sportswear category, J. McLaughlin owns every facet of the design and manufacturing process. Ideas take shape in the J. McLaughlin design studio while samples, fitting and production happen in the J. McLaughlin factories in Brooklyn, NY and China. J.
