Elizabethtown, KY (PRWEB) March 1, 2006
The National Education Association (NEA) has endorsed State Representative Mike Weaver in his bid for Kentucky's 2nd Congressional District to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Citing his commitment to education and children, the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) endorsed Weaver and recommended his candidacy to the NEA for their support and endorsement.
After reviewing the KEA recommendation and Weaver’s longstanding support to educators, the National Education Association promptly added their own endorsement, seeking to help elect Mike Weaver to the United States House of Representatives for Kentucky Second District.
"I'm honored that this endorsement came out so early in this race. The support of the National Education Association validates the work I have done while a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives on behalf of the Kentucky Education Association," Weaver stated. "I look forward to continuing my work in the Kentucky General Assembly to make things better for those that continue to give so much.”
Weaver has long supported educators and holds their service to our community in high esteem, stating, “… not just our service members, veterans, and families, but teachers too. You give unconditionally to your students daily. You give support, love and encouragement that may not be available at home."
With an exceptional record of sponsoring or co-sponsoring legislation in the Kentucky Statehouse, Weaver has made Education one of his top priorities. Weaver supports raises in teacher starting salary, plus incentives for those that will teach in math, science or technology that seems to drain out of the state of Kentucky.
"Kentucky Education has come a long way in raising the standard of education in the state. With the recognition and support of the National Education Association for my race for the 2nd Congressional District, we will continue to move forward, sponsoring more legislation on a federal level in the months ahead."
