Magirus, a leading value added distributor in the IT infrastructure marketplace and one of Europe's largest suppliers of VMware™ software, and DataCore Software, one of the leading independent storage software vendors, today announced very positive progress on their strategic alliance distributing DataCore's storage networking software. One year after their agreement, both companies report a very successful year in terms of sales and are expecting increased momentum in 2006 with DataCore's storage virtualization software product line.

“We are supporting our partners in extending their business in virtualization by combining VMWare and Microsoft Virtual Server with new capabilities from DataCore, PlateSpin and Vizioncore,” said André Horstmann, Business Development Manager at Magirus. “Storage Virtualization is the logical next step in resource consolidation and it offers many advantages when combined with virtual servers. DataCore specifically offers users the opportunity to achieve seamless failover and high-availability storage solutions for VMware environments, which in most cases would not be affordable with traditional hardware system approaches. Optimized for small and mid-sized companies, DataCore offers many new affordable solutions for disaster recovery, fast disk-to-disk back-up for SQL and Exchange and multi-terabyte virtual storage networks that can automatically provision storage to VMware, Microsoft, Linux and Netware environments. With storage utilization rates often below 30%, DataCore’s software typically can at least double the utilization rates. DataCore offers needed flexibility and if data is migrated to cheaper storage during its lifecycle, even further costs can be saved.”

Magirus is the only distributor that is fully certified and maintains a European training center for DataCore Software. Magirus offers numerous training certifications and workshops to train channel partners both on the products, virtual infrastructure technologies and sales know-how. Business partners and their customers also gain the benefit of Magirus' world-class hotline support for DataCore's complete product line.

“We had a very successful year and excellent gains in our revenues and new wins especially in the central European marketplace,” said Christian Hagen, European Regional Director, DataCore Software. “One of the driving reasons for this growth was the successful alliance with Magirus, which has the expertise to provide to its partners DataCore virtual storage solutions as part of the company’s comprehensive virtual infrastructure and service offerings. This is the industry’s most sophisticated offering of virtualization technologies, services and training - the combination of virtual servers and virtual storage together makes it simple for VARs to provide a compelling value to users.”

DataCore will be featured at CeBIT 2006 in the Magirus booth. DataCore and Magirus will demonstrate to partners and customers new, cost-efficient virtualization and disaster recovery (DR) solutions based on DataCore’s SANmelody™ and SANsymphony™ platforms designed to meet the needs of SMB and enterprise users.

CeBIT 2006 is one of the world’s biggest IT trade shows and will take place in Hannover, Germany from March 9-15, 2006. Visitors are invited to visit Magirus and DataCore in Hall 1 booth F33 to get the most recent updates on storage virtualization and visit Magirus’ daily virtualization workshops and live demos.
