The QUIKRETE Companies to Sponsor Masonry Competitions at 2006 MCAA
Showcases for mason skill, speed and craftsmanship to be held at March MCAA Masonry Showcase at CONSTRUCT AMERICA™.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 3, 2006 -- The QUIKRETE® Companies will be the primary sponsor for two masonry competitions during the MCAA Masonry Showcase in Las Vegas: the International Masonry Skills Challenge on March 30 and the Fastest Trowel Competition on March 31, 2006. The QUIKRETE® Companies will donate QUIKRETE® Type S Portland/lime Mortar for each competition.
The International Masonry Skills Challenge is a competition of masonry apprentices in first, second and third year skills levels, challenging winning apprentices from regional U.S. and foreign competitions to determine the top masonry apprentice at each level. This competition is designed to spotlight the industry’s finest young masons and focus attention on careers in the masonry industry.
The Fastest Trowel Competition will pit the best masons in the country against one another in a show of both speed and craftsmanship. Each contestant’s goal is to complete as much of an 18-block-long wall as possible under a 20-minute time limit. The competition is designed to showcase the skills of a journeyman mason and how important teamwork is in accomplishing a final product.
