Two Area Business Groups “TiE” The Knot

The American Small Business Coalition and TiE-DC forge alliance to benefit entrepreneurs.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 6, 2006 -- Take one of Washington's largest business networking organizations dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation and pair them with a highly energized freshman outfit charged with helping small companies understand and function in the federal contracting arena, and the result is the recent pact consummated by The American Small Business Coalition and the Washington DC Chapter of the global TiE network (TiE-DC).

Just a glance at either organization’s advisory board is enough to warrant the attention of the average person. The real story is in what these organizations do, and how they do it.

TiE-DC was founded in 1997 as the Indian CEO High Tech (ICEO) Council. In 2000, the organization merged with TiE, an open and inclusive organization that has rapidly grown to more than forty chapters in nine countries, with over 10,000 members. TiE-DC engages entrepreneurs and senior executives throughout the Mid-Atlantic region primarily through focused networking events and business conferences.

“I am very excited by the opportunity to work with the ASBC”, says TiE-DC Executive Director Steve Thomas. “This will bring our members interested in Federal Contracting a new dimension of programs and networking to tap into”.

The American Small Business Coalition, started in April 2004, is a membership organization solely focused on providing access to relationships and information to help companies effectively pursue business opportunities with federal agencies and federal contractors. The ASBC provides its members and the business community with relevant information through programs like Micro-Mondays™ where companies learn about doing business with the government under the micropurchase and simplified acquisition thresholds, and the significance of the GSA SmartPay program. Micro-Mondays™ is a free program The ASBC conducts at area Borders bookstores. Conference call and web-based versions called Micro-Mondays On-The-Wire™ slated for launch in April will also be provided at no cost to participants.

“The partnership with TiE-DC expands the base of relationships our members can tap into.” says Guy Timberlake, co-Founder of The American Small Business Coalition. “Relationships and market intelligence are the hallmarks of many successful companies in this business.”

Guy Timberlake is CEO and Chief Visionary of The ASBC which celebrates its second anniversary in April. “One of the important things we do is providing our members with resources to empower them. Micro-Mondays™ are intended to give insight into how the government utilizes certain procurement methods. Our goal is to help companies leverage information like this to their benefit.”

TiE-DC and The ASBC plan to kickoff their relationship by collaborating on joint events at the end of March. For details, please contact either organization.
