Beverly Hills People was on hand as Harry Winston unveiled the Red Carpet Collection for the 78th annual Academy Awards. These Oscar-night jewels were unveiled Wednesday at the Harry Winston Rodeo Drive flagship store. These jewels will be featured accessories on several A-list stars appearing this Sunday at the Oscar ceremonies at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
Harry Winston creative director Susy Korb discussed red carpet trends in Hollywood that included a surprising development this year; many of the younger Hollywood stars will be going retro with an emphasis on classy cluster diamonds and vintage looks that harken back to traditional Hollywood styles.
Among the featured jewels on display were the 20-carat Fancy Yellow Diamond ring valued at $950,000. Also displayed were a $500,000 pair of emerald earrings as well as an emerald ensemble with necklace and earrings valued at $3.5 million.
For men, there was a pair of diamond cufflinks valued at a relatively modest $25,000.
The Harry Winston tradition of outfitting Oscar-nominated actresses began in the 1940’s with actress Jennifer Jones and continues again this year. The House of Harry Winston has dressed more Oscar winners than anyone else in the history of the Academy Awards and includes Hollywood luminaries as Halle Barry, Marcia Gay Harden, Gwyneth Paltrow, Renee Zellweger, Diane Lane, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Crystal, Kate Hudson, Salma Hayek, Whoopi Goldberg, Hilary Swank, Mira Sorvino, Queen Latifah and Geena Davis.
