Local San Diego Cooking School Launches Two News Classes
Infusion Culinary Adds a Baking Essentials and a Pastry Essentials Class
(PRWEB) March 5, 2006 -- Infusion Culinary, a culinary school for cooking enthusiasts, has announced the addition of two new classes taught by chef Dan Swift: the 5-week Bread Baking Essentials series beginning April 6 and the 5-week Pastry Essentials series beginning May 12. Infusion Culinary’s Bread Baking Essentials course is designed for would-be bakers who want to go beyond using a bread maker and learn to create their own artisanal style breads. The Pasty Essentials course caters to those who may have thought that creating those incredible, tasty pastries was limited to the professional pastry chef.
The Bread Baking Essentials series will be held Friday evenings, April 7 through May 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Art Institute of California in Mission Valley. The class encompasses everything one needs to know to consistently produce high quality, healthy breads. Whether already experienced or starting from scratch, all students will build their baking skills by learning with the professional baking process, seeing how ingredients react to create fine breads, and utilizing various mixing and baking methods to prepare traditional and unusual yeast and quick breads.
At the end of 5 weeks these baking essentials will have become second nature for students: formulas and measurement, mixing methods, ingredients, dough making processes, rich yeast dough, rolled yeast dough, quick bread rolls, baguette, ciabatta, pan bread, sourdough, focaccia, croissant, sweet roll, muffins, scones and many more. At the last session, the class will create an array of gourmet breads for family and friends.
The Pastry Essentials series will be held on Fridays, May 12 through June 9, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Art Institute in Mission Valley. The series will teach students everything they need to consistently produce great looking, delicious pastries; from understanding basic ingredients and preparations and utilizing the various production processes, to decoration and presentation. At the end of 5 weeks, these pastry essentials will have become second nature for students: ingredient preparation, basic production processes for cookies, pies, tarts, cobblers and crisp, cakes and decoration, mousses and custards. All of this hands-on learning will culminate in a pastry tasting party at the last session.
