Feedster, the leader in feed access, today announced that it is expanding into Japan by partnering with Mitsui & Co., Ltd., one of the world's most diversified and comprehensive trading companies and a Feedster investor.

Feedster indexes millions of RSS feeds and makes these feeds valuable for publishers, bloggers, and advertisers. Feedster helps these audiences harness and monetize the rich information available in the universe of RSS feeds, which includes blogs, podcasts, traditional news services, e-commerce sites and entertainment properties.

As part of the Mitsui partnership, Feedster's syndicated content service will provide Japanese web publishers with an easy-to-use, web-based tool that helps editors quickly tailor aggregated feeds to generate new content and, as a result, new ad inventory. Editors can define how specific or broad the content subject parameters will be and have tools to offer subset content of larger topics. Using Feedster's standards-compliant XML-based feeds, this dynamic content can be a seamless part of a publisher's website, or a stand-alone feature. In Japan, its results will be accessible through mobile devices including cell phones.

Blogging has rapidly spread in Japan according to research conducted last year by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. According to the study, about 3.35 million people blog and 16.5 million read blogs in Japan. The size of both of these groups is expected to double by 2007.

“Blogging and feed creation continue to experience explosive growth around the world. In the US alone, our index has exceeded 25 million sources,” says Chris Redlitz, president of Feedster. “By using Mitsui's evolving media group, Feedster is entering a very hot market at just the right time with a product mix and a partner that will accelerate our growth in Japan.”

“Through strong relationships with major US partners like Feedster, Mitsui will establish its market leadership in Japan for a variety of e-marketing services that satisfy e-commerce client needs,” says Andrew VanEtten, senior director of Mitsui & Co., (U.S.A.), Inc. Consumer Service Business Dept. “We are confident that Feedster and Mitsui will enjoy rapid and great success in Japan.”

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and its U.S. subsidiary Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. made an undisclosed investment in Feedster in September 2005, and since then the two companies have partnered to promote Feedster's presence in Japan.
