Rapidly sets up, tunes and tests motion control systems.

Performance Motion Devices, Inc. (PMD), a world leader in motion control technology, announces the release of Pro-Motion® 3.0 Motion Control Software. Pro-Motion is an easy to use Windows®-based application designed to accelerate motion system development by providing ready-to-go capabilities that can be shared by the entire development team. The latest version of Pro-Motion supports PMD’s family of ION-Digital-Drives , making it easy to graph and analyze system performance.

Pro-Motion 3.0 has a step-by-step axis wizard that allows designers to quickly and easily tune position loop, current loop and field-oriented control motor parameters. The motion-control-software provides advanced features including status and event monitoring, programmable motion shuttle, and a complete motion oscilloscope. Pro-Motion supports PCI-bus, serial and CANbus communications.

Chuck Lewin, President explains, “Just as important as the quality of the hardware used to build a controller, is the quality of the motion software. Pro-Motion brings motion software to a new level by providing a completely graphical interface, along with a powerful trace facility and data playback. Because it is a complete motion exerciser and analysis tool, it can be used by everyone on the team including software engineers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers.”

In addition to Pro-Motion, the C-Motion® software library is available for developing applications using C/C++. This library can be used with Pro-Motion’s command window feature to capture commands being sent back and forth to the motion processor, simplifying programming.

Performance Motion Devices Inc. (PMD) is a world leader in motion-control ICs, boards and modules. PMD provides a full range of high-performance single and multi-axis motion control products for DC brush, brushless DC and step motors.
