Adventurous Wenches Wander into the Middle Ages

March is Women's History Month, and Adventurous Wench's new Tuscany tour takes a group of women back into the past. They follow the footsteps of ancient Etruscans, boat across the lake where Hannibal defeated the Romans, explore medieval villages, and sleep in a castle. Then the adventurous group steps right into the Middle Ages, and history comes alive around them.

(PRWEB) March 9, 2006 -- March is Women's History Month, so what could be more appropriate than taking a group of women into the past? Adventurous Wench's new Tuscany tour does just that. For starters, the group follows the footsteps of ancient Etruscans, boats across the lake where Hannibal defeated the Romans, explores medieval villages and abbeys, and tours the cradle of the Renaissance. For a grand finale, the Adventurous Wenches step right into the Middle Ages. The small town of Bevagna has an annual festival "Mercato delle Gaite", where the whole town comes alive as it was in medieval times.

Adventurous Wench founder Deanna Keahey says "We try to catch the feeling of Italy’s incomparable history, rather than just looking at the surface. We stay in a 13th century castle, a 16th century monastery, and a medieval palazzo built on Roman ruins. Where else but Italy do you find layers like this? And Le Gaite is a unique opportunity to bring history to life, so our guests can feel like they’re part of it. We found the wayback machine!"

Adventurous guests can expect to see a lot, walk a lot, and learn a lot on the trip. Keahey admits "OK, so we laugh a lot, and eat a lot, too. This isn't a studious trip – we're out to have fun." It's not all history – there's ample opportunity to revel in the life of Italy today. Guests enjoy long walks through hills and villages, have a private dinner in a country home, sample olive oils and vintage wines, luxuriate in hot springs, and savor picnics under the Tuscan sun.

The 8-day Tuscany adventure is June 13-20. The standard price of $3695 includes accommodations, land transportation, all meals except one dinner, and more (does not include airfare). Ask for the Women's History special, and save 10% on bookings in March. For details on the trip and what's included, contact Adventurous Wench at 866-419-3624 or see www.adventurouswench.com.
