CyclingPeaks Software Creates First Ever Power-Preme™ Cycling Competition
Power-Preme competition to debut at 2006 Tour of Shenandoah Stage Race.
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) March 10, 2006 -- CyclingPeaks Software, developers of the industry leading power analysis software CyclingPeaks WKO+, today announce an exciting new competition to debut at the 2006 Tour of Shenandoah Bicycle Race, April 25-30. The competition offers a $2,500 purse, $500 per stage, to the cyclist that wins each day's Power-Preme.
Power-Premes leverage increasingly popular onboard power meters to set up a “race within a race”. By translating effort into wattage, power meters provide an extremely accurate gauge of racing intensity and performance. The specific Power-Preme for each day takes into account unique requirements of each stage by awarding riders based on criteria such as highest power wattage for a given period of time or the greatest amount of work measured in kilojoules.
In order to compete for a Power-Preme, riders will upload a secure file containing their race data for analysis and review to www.CyclingPeaksSoftware.com. Winners will be announced prior to the next stage and their data will be available online along with a brief analysis by renowned coach Hunter Allen, author of "How to Train and Race with a Power Meter".
“Anyone who follows cycling knows that training and racing with power is one of the hottest topics in the sport”, commented Donavon Guyot, CEO of Training Peaks, LLC, the parent company of Cycling Peaks Software. “By debuting Power-Premes at the Tour of Shenandoah, we hope to give fans an inside look at the incredible effort and strategy that goes into competing in one of the country’s premier stage races.”
"We are thrilled to offer athletes another prize to battle each other for at our event,” explained Tour of Shenandoah operations director David LaMay. “It adds a new level of competition to bicycle racing and
gives athletes who already train with a power meter a fantastic opportunity to collect priceless data during competition.”
