Ocean Springs Hospital Recognizes Auxilian of the Year
Mississippi gulf coast hospital recognizes voluteer Oteria Cook.
Ocean Springs, Miss. (PRWEB) March 10, 2006 -- Oteria Cook, a member of the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary since 1972, was recently named the OSH Auxilian of the Year for 2005. Cook spends most of her volunteer time in the OSH Gift Shop, where she serves as a buyer and works on the floor of the Gift Shop.
Although she has lived in Jackson County since 1958, Cook is an Oklahoma native. When first moving to the Coast, she lived in Escatawpa before moving to Gautier in 1972. She first worked in the recreation department for the City of Pascagoula before beginning a career with Jackson County, where she worked for the Jackson County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. In 1994, she officially retired from the County.
She is the mother of three children, Brenda, Sheila and Donna, and the grandmother of six. Cook is also a member of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church in Escatawpa, where she has taught Sunday school.
“Being a member of the Auxiliary has been a great experience,” said Cook. “I feel we are valuable to the hospital and I wouldn’t have met so many nice people if I hadn’t chosen to volunteer.”
