(PRWEB) March 15, 2006 -- Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter, a no-kill, non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of pet ferrets, has selected Parma, Ohio, as the site of its new shelter. Anonymous donors are providing funding for the purchase of property and construction of a new facility, scheduled to open in fall of 2006.

Ferrets Unlimited has operated out of the home of Director Jean Caputo-Lee since it was established. The Parma location was selected for its centralized location, which will provide easy access to the shelter for potential adopters. The ease of access is a plus since Caputo-Lee drives throughout Northern Ohio in the course of the shelter’s mission of rescue and educational efforts.

The new shelter will feature living and play facilities for shelter inhabitants, boarding and grooming areas, a quarantine ward, commercial-grade laundry facilities (for ferret laundry), an office/staff area, as well as a community room. A gift shop will sell both ferret-related and other unique non ferret items.

Home to about 70 ferrets, Ferrets Unlimited has seen over 1,000 ferrets pass through its doors since it opened in 1994. It actively participates in a nationwide network of ferret rescue facilities and is the only shelter of its kind in Northern Ohio.

Ferrets Unlimited is conducting a series of fundraising activities to raise money for the purchase of cages, quarantine area equipment, supplies, and furnishings. Donors can purchase customized brick pavers or design their own tiles and glass blocks that will be incorporated into the shelter’s public areas. The shelter is seeking donations of goods and services from businesses that can be given as prizes at upcoming fundraising events. Event sponsorship opportunities are also available

RDJ Catalog Inc. CFO Dan Merrick announced that the corporation would be adding Ferrets Unlimited to its Ebay Mission Fish fundraising program. Dan said “Mission Fish has a link in the sell section of Ebay to add non-profits to your auction options. We wanted to help the shelter continue to protect the interests of animals which are in need of the new facility.”

Donations are tax deductible. For information please contact the shelter at (216) 749-3885, or visit our website: www.ferretsunlimited.org
