Stars, Artists, Students Rock Globe Theater Event: “Project Runway,” MTV, Paramount, Disney and Others Gather at Academy of Art University Event

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 12, 2006 -- On Saturday, March 4, at Universal Studio’s Globe Theater, over 900 Los Angeles area residents attended the Academy of Art University, San Francisco’s elaborate “Academy Day.” The event showcased emerging artists, offered information on the Academy and its twelve schools and brought together representatives from all corners of the art and entertainment industry.

The Academy partnered with the Bravo Channel’s “Project Runway”, Teen People and Animation magazine to properly showcase the diversity and excitement of an education in art and design,

The Globe Theater was packed with fashion faces, designers, media, celebrities and anxious prospect students as DJ Kevin Carney rocked the house spinning live.

As it was “Oscar” weekend, Dr. Elisa Stephens, the Academy of Art University President, hosted the Academy’s own awards ceremony. “Outstanding Actress of the Year” Award was presented to Jaime Pressly from My Name is Earl, Torque, Not Another Teen Movie, and Joe Dirt. “Outstanding Actor of the Year” Award to David Boreanaz from Bones, Angel, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. “Entertainment Leader of the Year” Award was given to Tracy Brennan, the Co-Head of the Motion Picture Talent Department of Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

The crowd was filled with other notable faces cheering on the students such as Santino Rice from Bravo Channel’s “Project Runway,” actor Efren Ramirez from Napoleon Dynamite, actress Rachel Melvin from the upcoming movie Legacy, Days of Our Lives, 8 Simple Rules, and Jack & Bobby, Alumni and LA-based fashion designers Desanka and Coco Kliks, MTV Asia host and fashion designer Anand Jon, as well as celebrity stylists such as “Q” from “America’s Next Top Model” and Fati Parsia.
In addition to the large number of attendees and special guests, over 200 professional artists and alumni attended the day’s event. They viewed recent student work and were urged to participate in the Academy’s EMentor program which directly connects them with promising new talent. Companies represented included Disney, Paramount Studios, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, Black & Decker, Speedo, Oglivy & Mather, Mazda, Rhythm & Hues, KROQ and Brickyard VFX Animation.
