Independent Media Productions, an Austin, Texas based video production company, has been awarded a Telly Award. The Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable television commercials and programs and the finest video and film production. The winning project was a recruitment video, produced for client Gary Job Corps Center. Located in San Marcos, TX, Gary Job Corps is the largest, most extensive Job Corps Center in the U.S., training disadvantaged youth in over two dozen vocational specialties, including business computers, auto diagnostics, health care, culinary arts, heating and air conditioning, welding, machinist, and construction trades.

The video program featured interviews with present and past students of the Gary Job Corps Center. The multi-day shoot captured all aspects of campus life and footage from many of the vocational programs, showing students learning skills in a hands-on environment. The final DVD is used by recruiters to show potential students the opportunities and realities of participating in the Gary Job Corps program. "The staff and students of Gary Job Corps were great to work with," said Steve Corder, principal of Independent Media Productions. "We enjoyed helping them bring their vision to life, and giving them a tool to recruit new students to their outstanding program."
